The Society for Community Development (SCD) was established in 2001 as a non-profit social planning
organization for community development. Prior to 2001, SCD was called the Faith & Hope Organization of District Toba Tek
Singh, Working in limited sectors. After registering under the government of Pakistan SCD established its work in district
Toba Tek Singh, Arifwala, adjoining and remote sectors.
We work towards empowering individuals and communities through asset building. We champion programs against racism
and violence, and believe in celebrating individuals who make a difference in our communities. We believe that people must
be provided the opportunity to communicate their needs, desires and priorities for their local communities.
The SCD has been active in issues and programs involving youth, family,
environment, connecting neighbors and neighborhoods, multiculturalism, interfaith harmony, violence prevention, health care,
child care, inclusion of people with disabilities, and anti racism.
Our
Aims: While working at the grassroots level, SCD aims to empower individuals to become responsible citizens.
This conclusion is achieved by:

- Identifying issues of concern in consultation with people
- Raising indviduals awareness about issues that effect community health
- Embracing and celebrating diversity
- Promoting community recognition of exemplary citizenship
Our Actions Include:
- Holding public forums on current community issues and concerns
- Educating the public on issues of community development/social planning
- Responding to community impact profiles
- Working with residents to identify concerns and issues
- Assisting organizations and partnering with organizations to build health community
- Provide people learning issues
